Hi5 PRO TOUR (15-17th November 2011)

Tour Diary

Going into Tour School with no pre-match practice would be stupid! And you can’t compete back in England at this time as conditions of course/weather aren’t really good enough.

So to get out to Spain to practise and compete on the same turf and same fairways is a must!!

The Hi5 Pro Tour run two events prior to Tour School so I decided to get out and play the first one at Altoreal near Murcia.

I’ve been pretty lucky as Steve (caddy) knows someone with a villa nearby and let us use it for free!! (massive thank you!) It’s always great to know you’re saving money when away and living off pasta and sauce is pretty cheap too!

Altoreal GC is not a bad layout at all, a few quirky holes but overall pretty decent. The condition is not fantastic as its really bare around the edges of the greens so we played club length preferred lies on the fairways in the Tournament.

Summary of rounds….

First round and first competitive game in a few weeks! 15 pars and 3 bogies in a row from the 10th onwards for a round of 75 (+3) I actually played quite nice just a few moments on rusty golf cost me. But that’s why I’m out here playing, get rid of the rust before Tour School!

Rd2 – Now that’s the kind of round I needed before Tour School! No bogies and 5 birdies for a 67 (-5) A couple of good par saves kept the momentum through the round and that’s key to all good rounds! ‘momentum’

That moved me back up the field with a good chance of a decent finish to make the journey home a lot sweeter!

Tomorrow’s game plan will be exactly the same, stay patient, limit any errors and just enjoy playing competitive golf again!

Rd 3 – The game continued in the right direction! 2 eagles, 3 birdies and just one weak bogey on the last for a round of -6 to move up the field again and finish T3rd.

I played some really nice stuff today and gave myself so many chances on the back nine to push the leaders!

I am so happy with the way the week has panned out, and it’s been great to have Steve out here with me to build on our team work! We are really in a good place now, mentally, physically and technically for Tour school in two week’s time.

To finish the day off we went out for a real good run around the resort of La Torre where we have been staying all week! Now time for tea, pack for home and skype the family.

Round up of Hi5 Pro Tour @ Altoreal – 75 (+3), 67 (-5), 66 (-6) for a -8 Total and T3rd

So from here I’m back home for a week to see my Family, and Mark & Duncan (Coaches) to fine tune anything before I fly back out for Tour School!

I just hope its not too cold to get outside at Woodsome to practise!

Blog again soon
