January round up…

Tour Diary

Firstly, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Now that January has already come to an end that means the season is getting closer and closer… in fact for me it’s only 33 days away! At the end of February I fly to Dubai for a few days practice en route to Kenya, for the first event of the Challenge Tour season! I can’t wait!

So, what have I been up to? I actually love my winter season as it means I get to spend time with my young family and it’s a great opportunity to develop my game. It sounds crazy but when you’re on the road from week to week you don’t really get to develop your game. It’s more about play, play, play and prep for each event.

So, a good month of hard work in January with Mark Pearson (Swing coach) and Iain Highfield (Mind coach) at Oulton Hall and I feel my game is certainly going in the right direction!

I’ve also tried to put in the hours on my fitness with help from Andy Appleyard (Strength and conditioning) and Craig Coulson (Sports Physiotherapist) and it has been great to be able to do that from home after converting the garage into a mini gym with everything I personally need.

Again, a massive thanks to Steve and Lynn Bradley at penninebusinesspartners.com for donating their Nordic Cross Trainer to my ‘home gym’ – thanks for the support!

Also this month I had the chance to get down to Mizuno (near London) to test their new driver, 3 wood and 5 wood.

Inside the Mizuno Tour Van which is the European Tour’s Official Workshop!

And they’ve gone straight in the bag! After some testing I found I was launching it higher, spinning it less and carrying the ball 17 yards further – wow!

I’ve swapped/changed shafts and heads over the years and never really seen much difference in performance … so this is the first time I have seen a huge improvement!

I’m pretty confident that all my driving stats are going to improve this coming season!

Also, I don’t know if you remember, this time two years ago I wrote a blog mentioning my delight in receiving my Challenge Tour membership pack, it was a light blue colour and I said that one day I would swap it for a dark blue version saying ‘European Tour’ on it!!

I HAVE!! – look what came through the post…

So one more month of practice before jetting off to Dubai, hopefully ticking all my practice boxes and smashing some more targets.

Look forward to blogging again soon.

It’s nice to speak with you all – regards

Chris
