France and Norway on the Challenge Tour…

Tour Diary

After a great week at home, spending some quality time with Laura and Jess, playing a pro-am and doing some work with my coaches Mark and Duncan, I really feel refreshed and ready to go again!

This week the Challenge Tour heads to Le Vaudreuil in Normandy, France, which I have heard from a few friends is a pretty nice place to play!

I’ve felt over the last few weeks my game has been heading in the right direction, so to keep building on the good things I have been doing sounds like a great plan heading into the second half of the season.

It’s also been great to have a good run of game time on the Challenge Tour, playing something like 6 of the last 8 events, but after this week my starts may be limited so I really need to take my chances when I get them and hopefully play some good stuff…

Performance from the week…

Overall, a disappointing week in France, a couple of unexpected bad shots had crept into my game, and on a golf course as easy as that you really could not afford to make bogeys.

So not the week I was hoping for but I’m starting to learn how you have to separate each week on Tour, however you play. Make a fresh start every week and put the last performance behind you…

I’m sure everyone will agree it’s easy to shoot a bad score after a good round, so why can’t it be as easy to shoot a good score after a bad one… No reason why not!

Luckily, once again, I managed to get a crazy journey home early and I was very fortunate to do so… That’s always a great feeling and helps make up for a poor week! Extra family and practice time!

Now time to plan ahead . . . (not travelling to Finland, week off for many reasons).

So, a week at home to get some quality productive practice done, see my coaches and get ready to fly to Norway the following week, sounded a great plan.

Having got down to 8th reserve for Norway on the Friday before the tournament I was pretty confident I would get the call to say I was playing, so I took the risk and booked my flights. It paid off and now I’m sitting on a Tuesday afternoon flight from Heathrow to Oslo for what is another fantastic opportunity on the Challenge Tour.

Overall, a costly week for many reasons … The expenses travelling to Scandinavia are frightening and then on top of that to make an 8 on a par four with 7 holes to go in round two to miss the cut again was extremely costly!!

A serious schoolboy error – I was gutted! At least the Giants beat Wigan that evening and I got to watch it on SkyGo!

So a sad journey home and a long lonely drive back from Heathrow to reflect on the last few weeks’ performance, my game and try to plan the next few months.

Here is how it looks…

Challenge Tour – Ireland
Challenge Tour Major – Kazakhstan
MENA Tour – United Arab Emirates
European Tour School – Spain

I hope the next few blogs will be a bit more positive as there is still so much to play for!!

I will keep you posted!

Chris
