Finland – Challenge Tour

Tour Diary

After two fantastic weeks with the family it’s time to get back on the road: 7.20am flight from Heathrow to Helsinki on a Tuesday morning is not what the doctor ordered but that’s really the only way out there!

I have heard really good things about the golf course this week so let’s hope I have a golf game to match… We shall soon see!

After landing around lunch time, it was an hour’s taxi ride to the course for a long afternoon of practice, as there is no play Wednesday with the pro-am being played.

Tuesday took its toll on me this week and I was feeling pretty ropey for the next couple of days, it’s one part of the Tour life I’m finding hard to adjust to – very different from a week on Europro where you just drive a few hours. A full day of travel and a time difference most weeks makes it tough.

Not really too sure what happened in round 1, but it’s been a while since most parts of my game abandoned me for 18 holes. As always I gave it 100% and did everything I could to shoot one shot better.

Even when it’s tough going you still have to try and get something out of every round you play, you always learn more from your tough experiences and if you deal with them the right way I’m sure they will make you stronger.

I now have a chance in round 2 to do myself proud, give it 100% and try shoot the best score I can!

Round 2:

That was a lot better! 70 (-1) I hit a lot of decent golf shots out there today, and felt a lot better over the putter, I still missed a couple of short ones early on, but it could have been a round in the mid to high sixties quite easily!

But playing at this level and shooting such a bad first round, you leave yourself far too much work to do to even make the cut.

So it’s an early bath again this week and I’m hoping to get home Saturday sometime. It will be great to celebrate my birthday on Sunday with the family and then I’m not sure what golf I will be playing over the next four weeks.

My Category on the Challenge Tour will not get me into the next few events (it’s a long story) but I should hopefully hang on to top 100 in the OOM to play Russia and Kazakhstan in September, which are two big events on the schedule.

I’ve had some great messages from a lot of you this week even when the times are tough and that means a lot! So a massive thanks!

Hope you’re all having fun on the course, as that really is the important thing! 🙂

Kind regards

Chris
